Winston Churchill said that ‘Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection’. As another busy year draws to a close, and we approach our sixtieth birthday in 2019, we wanted to take some time to reflect on all that we are grateful for this year and share this gratitude with our patients.

Dr Sarah Kam, Principal Dentist:

In 2018, I am grateful for our patients. As an owner of Medland Dental, I am aware that a practice is built by its people, and at Medlands we are blessed to be surrounded by amazing staff and patients. Whilst “dentistry” in some form is always part of the interaction, this year I have witnessed how much our staff have been touched by our patients sharing with us some of their amazing highs, and terrible lows. I have also seen how much our patients take a genuine interest in our personal lives – something that I have been grateful to have been on the receiving end of myself with my own personal events this year. These relationships that go beyond just being your health care provider enrich our lives, and we are very thankful for them.”

Brad McCormack, Oral Health Therapist:

In 2018, I am grateful for good health and fitness. This year I have been able to explore different avenues of exercise, including yoga and Pilates, which have had a positive impact on my overall health. This allows me to feel great, allowing me to give my patients 100% every time.

Dr James Yang, Associate Dentist:

My family is very important to me, and I was lucky enough recently to travel to China with my parents who I am grateful are in good health and good spirits. This allowed them to enjoy the trip immensely.  I think of my patients as my extended family and have had pleasure over the years of building a rapport with many since I started with Medland Dental in 2011.
Wishing you all a wonderful and safe Christmas and lots of quality time spent with your loved ones. I look forward to seeing you again in 2019.

Angela Pree, Front Office Manager:

I am grateful for my Medland Family in supporting me with my goals and achievements of chasing the seven summits and am especially thankful that I was able to reach the summit of Elbrus this year. It’s nice to work at a practice where not only my colleagues support me, but also our patients as well. I love that I can share my journey with them and also share tips for patients who may share the same interests as me.

Shannon Zerner, Dental Hygienist:

On reflection of 2018, I am most grateful for the health and well being of my entire family. I also really appreciate the relationships I have built with my patients and fellow staff members over the last twelve years.

Louise Howlett, Practice Administrator:

When I reflect on 2018, I feel incredibly grateful for the things that make life calm and happy; loved ones who care for and support me, good health, a fulfilling job working with incredible people, a lovely home, and the ease of access to all of the vital things that we need in life.

Ashleigh Grose, Oral Health Therapist:

In 2018, I am grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life (my husband, family,  friends and work colleagues) who constantly love, support, encourage and provide me with genuine happiness each and every day.

Sue Fitzsimon, Patient Care Coordinator:

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to continue my adventures in travel.  In August of this year, I had the privilege of going to Central Australia, Uluru for six days.  The vastness of the landscape in our country, as well as the variety of people that make up our population, make me proud to be amongst the lucky ones to call ourselves Australians.

Dr Ian Morrison, Associate Dentist:

I am grateful for the fact I am getting more sleep now that my twins are almost four years old! I am also thankful to my patients for their genuine interest in my family, the tips and experiences they have shared have made those difficult first years of parenthood easier.

Belinda Waldron, Front Office Coordinator:

In  2018 I am grateful for good health, and great family and friends who I was able to celebrate a milestone occasion with. I am also so appreciative of my work colleagues, who supported me with adjusted work hours which has allowed me to prepare my son for school in 2019.

Kelly Candelaria, Back Office Manager:

We have recently had to put our beloved dog, King, down. I am so grateful for having such a beautiful member of my family for fifteen years, and for all the unconditional love that he gave our family.

Rachael Osmond, Practice Manager:

After a challenging year health-wise, I am certainly very grateful for my husband, Shane. He supports me through good and bad times. He values me as a wife and mother, and we work together to manage demanding jobs and running a household that can get quite crazy. We have been together throughout the thirty years that I have worked at Medland and he is part of the extended Medland family.  I feel very fortunate to have been blessed with Shane and my two boys Nicholas and Hayden.
I am looking forward to the time I will get to spend with them over this Christmas holiday break. It is the one time of the year we truly get to relax together as a family.

As a practice, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our patients for their loyalty and support this year. Like many of you, we spend the majority of our time at work, and we feel grateful to be surrounded by such wonderful coworkers and patients. From all the team at Medland Dental, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year and we look forward to caring for you in 2019.
