Medland Ceramic Veneers

Medland ceramic veneers and composite veneers are both are excellent for treating chipped, discoloured, slightly misaligned or misshapen teeth, or to fill small spaces between the front teeth.

Ceramic veneers are made of thin and highly durable ceramic. Our ceramic veneers are handcrafted by our on-site laboratory in combination with your Medland Dentist. Ceramic veneers provide superior aesthetics and the longest lifetime of the veneer materials. Each ceramic veneer is handcrafted by our onsite ceramists offering a superior natural colour. Ceramic veneers are stain-resistant and retain their shine and beauty.

Composite veneers are made from composite resin, which is a tooth-coloured material also used for fillings. Composite comes in a wide variety of shades and translucencies allowing your Medland Dentist to perfectly match your own natural teeth or alternately change the colour and appearance. Composite veneers are a very conservative option to improve your smile and usually require little or no tooth preparation. They are created by your Medland Dentist directly on your tooth. Composite veneers can be a more affordable option than ceramic veneers in restoring your smile, however, they are not as strong and resilient as ceramic veneers and they can chip or stain over time. Composite veneers require more frequent replacement.

Planning is the most important stage in achieving your anticipated outcome.

At Medland this involves meeting and consulting with the ceramist that will be handcrafting your ceramic veneers and your Medland Dentist regarding your ideal outcome and expectations. Photos and impressions and/or digital scans will be taken so that your Medland Dentist and onsite ceramist can design your ceramic veneers to harmonise with your face and smile, but also your occlusion. 

In most cases, we will then try-in a “mock up” of your veneer design so that you can see how they will look on your teeth before committing to treatment or any tooth preparation. During this stage, you will get to trial the colour, shape and arrangement of your veneers.

Once you are happy with the proposed design and outcome, the process occurs over two or three appointments. 

Appointment 1: During this appointment, your Medland dentist will make you comfortable and ensure that your teeth and surrounding gums are thoroughly anaesthetised. The teeth will be prepared for veneers and a very fine detailed impression of the prepared teeth will be taken on which our on-site laboratory will construct your veneers. Temporary veneers are placed which are made to replicate the veneer design agreed on in your trial appointment.

Appointment 2: We may arrange a review appointment once you have had some time to adapt to your temporary veneers. This is another opportunity to consult with your Medland Dentist and onsite ceramist, and for all parties to make any changes.

Appointment 3: During this appointment, your Medland dentist will once again make you comfortable and ensure that your teeth and surrounding gums are thoroughly anaesthetised. Your ceramic veneers will be tried in, and the colour, shape, fit and bite checked by your Medland Dentist and your onsite ceramist. If any changes need to be made these can be made immediately in our on-site laboratory before bonding your veneers.

Your new ceramic veneers require the same care and attention as natural teeth.

Some factors that can affect the life expectancy of your ceramic veneers are chewing forces, parafunction (clenching, grinding, fingernail biting), natural occlusion, diet, oral hygiene, and regularity of dental examinations and reviews.

Ceramic veneers are not suitable for everyone and your Medland Dentist will advise you if this type of treatment is not the right option for you, and your alternatives.

With proper care and attention, your Medland ceramic veneers should last for many years.
