Medland Bridges
Regain your confidence with replacement of missing teeth
Replacing a missing tooth or teeth has never been easier. Ask your Medland dentist if a bridge is the right option for you.
A Medland bridge looks like your normal teeth and is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges are supported by crowns on the teeth on either side of the space, effectively linking them together. Bridges can effectively fill the gap left by missing teeth and restore both aesthetics and function.
Advancements in materials and technology make ceramic bridges today incredibly strong and durable and add to our already successful and long-lasting ceramic fused-to-gold bridges.
Your comfort is our highest priority and we are confident you will be happy with the results. Book your appointment at Medland today.

Medland Bridge FAQs
Below are some of the frequently asked questions we receive regarding bridges at Medland Dental.
If you have any other questions please contact our friendly team.
For conventional bridges, one tooth on each side of the missing tooth is prepared for a crown. The replacement tooth (pontic) is fused to the crowns and then the bridge is cemented in place. Effectively, the replacement tooth is supported by crowns fixed to its neighbouring teeth. Like crowns, dental bridges may be fabricated from ceramic or ceramic fused to gold materials. Stressbreakers may be used to allow some independent movement of the support teeth and promote better longevity of the treatment.
In some situations, a bonded bridge may be used, especially when the missing tooth is a front tooth. This reduces the amount of tooth preparation of adjacent teeth and relies on a wing of ceramic or metal bonded to the adjacent tooth.
The provision of a Medland bridge is generally a two-appointment process. Prior to this appointment, your Medland dentist may take an x-ray to further assess the health of the supporting teeth for your bridge and anything you need to know about the long-term health of these teeth.
Appointment 1: During this appointment, your Medland dentist will make you comfortable and ensure that your teeth and surrounding gum are thoroughly anaesthetised. The supporting teeth will be prepared for crowns and a very fine detailed impression (either physical impression or a digital scan) of the prepared tooth will be taken on which our on-site laboratory technicians or ceramists will construct your bridge. One of our laboratory technicians will consult with you and your Medland dentist during this appointment to ensure that your new bridge will be the ideal colour and shade for your mouth. At the end of the appointment, a temporary bridge will be placed on your prepared tooth to protect it until your next appointment.
Appointment 2: Your Medland dentist will once again ensure that your teeth and surrounding gum is thoroughly anaesthetised. Your new bridge will be tried on your tooth and the colour, shape, fit and bite checked. If any changes need to be made these can be made immediately in our on-site laboratory before cementing your bridge.
Your bridge needs a little more brushing and flossing than your own teeth. Like natural teeth, it is still possible for decay to develop on the root surfaces of the teeth supporting your bridge, if not maintained properly. You’ll need to use Superfloss™ and interproximal brushes, like Piksters™, to clean underneath the false tooth and the root surfaces of the supporting teeth.
At Medland, we don’t just place your bridge, but partner with you in their care by providing you with ongoing reviews and most importantly, preventive care, so that your bridge retains its health and functional qualities for as long as possible.
Maintenance, repairs and replacements are inevitable for all dental treatments. The lifetime of any dental treatment can vary greatly between individuals as every person is unique, and their mouth a unique environment.
Some factors that can affect the life expectancy of your bridge are chewing forces, parafunction (clenching, grinding), natural occlusion, diet, oral hygiene, and regularity of dental examinations and reviews.
With proper care and attention, your Medland bridge should last for many years.
