What to expect when you visit

Appointments at Medland Dental during COVID-19

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, dental practices in Queensland have been working under different levels of restrictions. Medland Dental will continue to closely follow advice from Queensland Health, the Australian Dental Association and the relevant state and national bodies as our state transitions from eradication to suppression of COVID-19.

The ongoing safety of our patients and our team, families and close contacts continues to be our first priority.

We also want to be able to continue to provide our patients with the treatment they need as planned and scheduled throughout this period in a safe and secure environment.

Medland Dental has implemented a comprehensive strategy of measures to protect our patients and our team, and ensure that we are taking exceptional care of everyone during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

pre-appointment covid-19 screening

Medland Dental can provide our patients with the full range of treatments and services, provided that our patients meet the criteria for being “low risk” of having contracted/being exposed to COVID-19.

Prior to your appointment, we will ask you to please complete a Pre-Appointment COVID-19 Questionnaire and submit this Questionnaire online no later than 24 hours prior to your confirmed appointment time.

You will be sent via SMS a link to this questionnaire 48 hours prior to your appointment time. The video below demonstrates our Pre-Appointment COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire.

Pre-screening our patients for clinical and epidemiological risk factors for COVID-19 is the most important element in managing COVID-19 risk at Medland Dental.

what to expect on arrival at your appointment

On arrival at your appointment, there are a few things that you will notice at Medland Dental:

Temperature testing: On arrival, we will ask you to please wait outside until a member of our team undertakes a simple, non-contact temperature test. Our entire team undertakes the same tests on arrival every day, as do all visitors on entry to Medland Dental.

Check in Qld App: Medland Dental is participating in the use of the Check In Qld App to assist contact tracers if required.

Social/Physical Distancing: In the public areas of the practice, we are ensuring social and physical distancing of individuals and family units where ever possible. After temperature testing, we will assist you in finding a comfortable area to wait prior to your appointment. We ask for your understanding should we ask you to move location. To help us in managing social distancing, we would also ask you to attend alone or bring minimal accompanying persons with you to your appointment.

Face Masks: Please bring a face mask to your appointment and wear it when in the public areas of our building. Medland Dental is a bustling facility with many challenges in ensuring physical distancing between all patients and staff at all times. Medland Dental will have masks available for patient use.

additional infection control precautions

Medland Dental always has and will continue to maintain the highest level of infection control procedures and environmental cleaning. As an Accredited Dental practice, we must meet the strict National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, and for some time now, we have chosen to exceed some of these standards, particularly regarding infection control. In addition to all of our usual behind-the-scene infection control measures, you will notice the following:

Hand sanitiser: We ask you to please use the hand sanitiser provided on entry to Medland Dental and on entry to and exit from your treatment room

Pre-procedure mouth rinse: An additional infection control measure now in place for all of our patients is a 30-second pre-procedure mouth rinse to reduce the viral load of many common viruses.

Face towels and blankets: All linen face towels and patient blankets are laundered after every use.

Magazines, Newspapers and iPads: Magazines and newspapers have been temporarily removed. iPads are disinfected after use.

Thank you for your understanding in ensuring we are providing a COVID-19 Safe Environment
